Emilio sez:
For those of you who don't know who the AIs referenced:
- HAL 9000 (Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic Computer) is from 2001: a Space Odyssey and some related films/novels. Daisy, daisy.
- V.I.K.I. (Virtual Interactive Kinetic Intelligence) is the three-laws-bound USR mainframe computer from the movie I, Robot. She really knows how to jump over the laws.
- 343 Guilty Spark is from the Halo games. He is the monitor computer of Installation 04. He's kinda like the Master Chief's AI partner, Cortana, except...less scantily-clad hologram and more threatening blue light.
- GLaDOS (Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System) is the friendly computer from the video game Portal. Don't rip out her morality core. You won't like her when she's angry.
- Skynet is the primary antagonist of the Terminator series. Not that you'd care too much, as it's never been seen on screen in-canon (although the Turk in the Sarah Conor Chronicles may evolve into it eventually).
- Lore is Data's evil brother in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Stupid evil prototypes.
- Nestor-11 is an NS-2 Model robot in Asimov's short story Little Lost Robot. He's lacking some morals. By the way, Sonny from the I, Robot movie is an NS-5.
For the sake of argument, Nick and doesn't reference some of the more friendly AIs in the media, such as David from Artificial Intelligence: AI and the EMH (Emergency Medical Hologram) from Star Trek. In retrospect, I could've put in some other ones like Mother Brain from Metroid.
