Emilio sez:
I'm happy to report that I've found a way of shading that really works for me, is pretty easy to do, and is thus going to be used more regularly in the strip. Even better, it doesn't involve adding grey tint to the comic, as do the methods in the previous few comics. I mean, the lighting in the current setting does explain that. But it would look really weird in broad comic-daylight. This was actually not originally scripted as a single-panel, nor did I make it as such to save time. I just thought it would get the point across better than my original script. And if you're wondering, I just picked the first words that popped into my head which fit the backronym. I mean I like the way Kyle's hand turned out, although the foreshortening of his arm is a tad questionable. Another thing that makes me happy about drawing this comic: Kyle will have taken off those saftey goggles by tomorrow. They're actually not that hard to draw or color, but they still annoy me. A lot. (Oh, and when I say "tomorrow," this is tomorrow in realtime, not webcomic time. Tomorrow in webcomic time won't happen for another few weeks.) By the way, notice the font change? Personally, I think I probably would have missed it if I wasn't the artist. It's "Acme Secret Agent" free from Blambot. I actually prefered the font "Antihero," but that's a pro font one has to pay for. Maybe if I get more readers I'll eventually spend the money to get it. Point is? I like this font. I think it's better looking than Comic Sans MS. Of course, I'm the guy who thinks that certain glowing balls of light in the Zelda series are more attractive than others. Navi is totally better than Ciela. |
