Emilio sez:
As I said yesterday, I'm working on shading techniques to give the comic a less flat feel. Here, I felt like I've really overdone some panels. I mean, I'm pretty much okay with the way panels 1, 2, and 4 turned out. But really? Nick and Kyle look like they've spontaneously grown extra facial hair in the other panels. Well, my excuse is "I'm working on it." I've actually decided that I don't like the concept of hammerspace, or at least the use of it in canon. It's a fun mechanic for a world, but I don't want everyone pulling hammers (or other items for that matter) from nowhere. Pocket dimensions and other similar mechanics may be used some day by some people in the future, but definitely never by Nick. So, I really don't know why on earth Nick has a baseball bat in this panel except so I don't have to resort to hammerspace. If he ends up being written into a baseball player because of this, I'll think that's really cool. And be thankful I didn't do hammerspace, because, frankly, developing characters can be more important that introducing world characteristics sometimes. Some guy (yeah, I've referred to him before) roped me into reading 1/0. So yeah, that's really what I learned. Happy? On a totally unrelated note, the last word of this arc is "guess." So that would make the last words of the first three chapters "Lunch idea guess." Maybe I should start hiding subliminal messages like that. |
